"The empires
of the future are the empires of the mind." -- Winston Churchill
Now that you
have clarified your goal, how exactly are you and your team going
to meet it? You must evaluate several items before you introduce
the program to your team.
In terms of
reaching the goal, you should be able to answer these questions
before moving on:
- Who is
involved?
Who is the leader of the incentive program?
Who are the participants? Is this your entire sales force?
Is it only the East Coast?

Is it your entire project management team or just a small section
of it?
Are there any outside observers?
Is the plant manager or the CEO observing the progress?
- Is the
program going to affect everyone?
Will higher sales affect
the entire company?
Will the whole company benefit and be rewarded if the goal is
met by one section of the team?
- Make sure
everyone has the capabilities to reach the goal.
Is this program run during the end of the year when companies
are focused internally and not interested in purchasing new products
or services?
Is there a new company in your industry space?
Do you have a young team of people who will need more guidance?
What can management do to help? Should you concentrate on some
training?
Go for the Goal! Do you have your participants, leaders,
and observers specified? Who are they?
